In the backdrop of globalizing corporate culture, competitive environment and leaps of advancements in information technology, this year’s National Competition for Budding Managers,1st in its series posed an apt challenge to the young students. Through their presentations, the students devised strategies for effectively tapping the large pool of talent available within India, and to produce an effective action plan to best implement of these strategies in Tourism sector
The 1st National Competition For Budding Manager 2015 was held in New Delhi on 6th November at Hotel Sheraton ,Saket.
The competition was kick-off with an address by Mr Gopal Jiwrajka,Vice President ,PHD Chamber. He said, “PHD Chambers’ objective is to build managerial excellence in our country. This competition has created a platform to recognize budding managers in the Tourism sector. The competition has received tremendous response.”
Mr. Vijay Mehta, Chairman, Tourism Committee, PHD Chamber presented the theme of the competition .He Said “The Economic scenario of Indian industry has changed today. We can be globally competitive by harnessing our talent and other natural advantages.” Mr P P Srivastav, IAS (Retd.) Former Member ,North Eastern Council & Former Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs ,Govt Of India was the special Guest in the Competition along with Mr LI Qianguo , Director , China National Tourist Office and Mr. Kamal Singh, Director General ,NHRDN.
Mr Radu Octavian Dobre, Charge De’ Affaire ,Embassy of Romania was the Guest of Honour for the Competition .He praised the Chamber for taking this unique initiative for the growth of the Tourism Sector in the Country.
The Honorable Guest Mr Janak Ram ,Member of Parliament ,Lok Sabha also wished all the participating teams to do well in the competition and thanked the Chamber for bridging the gap between the Industry and the academia.
The Chief Guest Mr Lov Verma,, IAS, Secretary ,Dept of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities ,Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt . of India emphasized the need of more such competition in the near future and he also shared the Global perspective with respect to tourism in India

Welingkar Research Institute Mumbai Won the PHDCCI: 1st National Competition For BuddingManagers 2015
Risabh Jayani and Armin Pastakia From Welingkars Mumbai won the won the first prize at the 1stNational Competition For Budding Managers.
The second winners were Anish Kumar and Rajiv Simon from KIIT ,Bhubaneswar and Punarvasu Verma and Rajat Gupta from IITTM ,Noida were at the third position.
Siddarth Sudhana of Apeejay University, Sohna was adjudged the Best Budding Manager of the competition
The competition, witnessed the participation of 20 teams across the country.
Mr Chandan Chattaraj Global President – HR ,UFLEX was the chief guest at the Valedictory
He Along with Ms Miniya Chatterji ,Head Sustainability ,JSPL who was the Guest of Honor gave away the prizes to the winners. They both Congratulated the Winning Teams .
Mr Chattaraj Shared how these competitions are beneficial for the students, he said, “The students get academic knowledge in their Colleges but these events are to give a boost to them and to prepare them for real life. These events build on teamwork which is very important.”
Mr P P Srivastav, IAS (Retd.) Former Member, North Eastern Council & Former Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt Of India summed up the whole event when he shared his experience. He said, “I think this was a well organized event. The student’s presentations were good. The theme was also very relevant. India can become a global power house in tourism if we focus on our advantages, and that’s the focus of this event today.”
