5th India Heritage Tourism Conclave

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized “5th India Heritage Tourism Conclave: Making Incredible India – Swachh, Sundar, Sashakt Bharat” on 12th February, 2016 at Jaipur. The objective of organizing the conclave was to aim at charting out the roadmap for the restoration and sustainable development of the Heritage Treasure of India. The development of heritage sites and destination on the line of global standards is imperative to cater to the international tourist fraternity visiting India.

The aim of the theme “Making Incredible India – Swachh, Sundar, Sashakt Bharat was to promote the cleanliness drive in India, with a focus on the Tourist Heritage sites, in order to protect and preserve our abundant natural heritage.

This Theme is encouraged by the initiative of Ministry of Tourism’s Swachh Bharat Mission and aims to provide further impetus to the promotion of Indian tourism among the domestic and international tourism fraternity, while successfully projecting India as the destination at par with other global prominent places in terms of cleanliness, sustainability and beautification.

Inaugurating 5th India Heritage Tourism Conclave organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Advisor to Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Mr. Parvez Dewan, IAS (Retd) while addressing the audience, said “India has scaled high in the tourism sector and can rank among top 10 countries by virtue of its memorials, monuments and culture. For this, we need to attract more & more foreign tourists and also strengthen the publicity and basic infrastructure. On this occasion, speaking on the importance of Heritage Tourism, Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament, Vijay Goel said, “Only Govt. and Govt. institutions can’t save the heritage. It should be the duty of the entire society.”

Mr. Anil Khaitan, Vice President, PHD Chamber welcomed all the delegates and the panelists for 5th India Heritage Tourism Conclave and declared that PHD Chamber would ensure meaningful dialogue in future too.

Addressing a congregation of over 300 people including national & international political leaders and stakeholders associated with Heritage Hotels & Tourism, Mukesh Gupta, Chairman of Tourism Committee of PHD Chamber said that besides promoting the conservation of historical monuments chamber is also promoting Medical, Cultural, Adventure and IT Tourism, which will help in increasing employment opportunities in the country.

H.E. Mr. Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of Bosnia to India said that India’s rich heritage and culture is the main reason for its greatness.

Mr. Yogesh Srivastav, Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered formal concluding remarks.

The Conference was attended by more than 150 delegates from the industry and government circle.
