About Medical And Wellness Tourism Summit

We have great pleasure in informing you that PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing the “MEDICAL AND WELLNESS TOURISM SUMMIT – 2014” 25th JULY, 2014 at IHC, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
Health and wellness tourism in India witnessed substantial growth of 21% in 2012. This growth was driven by all the categories of medical tourism, hotel/resort spas, destination spas and other spas. The growth in medical tourism was observed due to the depreciation of the local currency in 2012, which resulted in cheaper procedures for foreigners. Furthermore, with the increase of annual disposable income and consumer expenditure at 12% and 13% respectively, consumers were more willing to spend on luxury treatments.
As medical tourism and wellness tourism are growing and garnering increasing attention in countries around the world, both businesses and governments are grappling with how to define, organize, and promote these sectors. The tourists coming to India are attracted because of its low cost treatment as compared to western standards. About an average of 40-60% cost is lower in India as compared to United States or Europe. It is well known around the world that, India offers “First world Treatment at Third World Prices”.
